How to Pack Diabetic Supplies for Shipping (Step-by-Step)

Shipping diabetic supplies correctly matters. Damaged strips or sensors can reduce your payout — or result in rejection. Here's exactly how to pack everything so it arrives in the best condition possible.

What You'll Need

• A small to medium cardboard box (or a padded bubble mailer for small orders)
• Bubble wrap or packing paper
• Packing tape
• Printer (for the prepaid label) — or a library/UPS Store can print it

Step-by-Step Packing Guide

Step 1: Check Each Item Before Packing

• Verify expiration dates — anything under 3 months we can't accept
• Check that all seals are intact
• Remove any loose items or damaged packaging

Step 2: Protect Fragile Items First

• CGM sensors (Dexcom, Libre): These are the most valuable items in your shipment. Wrap each box individually in bubble wrap. They're not fragile, but protecting them shows up in condition.
• Test strip bottles: Keep them in their original cardboard box if possible. Wrap in paper if loose.
• Omnipod pods: These ship well — just keep in original box.

Step 3: Pack the Box

• Line the bottom with crumpled paper or bubble wrap
• Place heaviest items at the bottom
• Fill gaps with paper so nothing slides or rattles
• Leave at least 1 inch of cushioning on all sides

Step 4: Seal and Label

• Tape all seams of the box — top, bottom, and sides
• Print the prepaid label we email you (standard letter paper is fine)
• Tape the label flat — no wrinkles over the barcode

Step 5: Drop Off

Take your package to any USPS location. You can also schedule a free USPS pickup at usps.com if you prefer not to leave the house.
